Can You Make A Frozen Chicken Breast In An Air Fryer?

If you are looking for a quick and easy way to cook frozen chicken breasts, an air fryer might just be the solution. But can you really make a frozen chicken breast in an air fryer? The answer is yes! In fact I highly recommend it if you are looking for a healthier way to cook chicken.

Air fryers use hot air to circulate around your food, cooking it evenly and quickly. They also have the added benefit of producing crispy, golden-brown skin on your meat without the need for oil or deep frying. This makes them a popular kitchen appliance for health-conscious individuals who want to enjoy delicious fried foods without all the extra calories.

Using An Air Fryer

If you do not have an air fryer yet then I encourage you to look online on Amazon and read reviews. I purchased the Air Fryer made by Instapot and I love it.

This Air Fryer is the perfect size for a small family of 2-4 people. I am able to air fry 4 pork chops at a time which is perfect for my family of 3 people.

If you are looking for a budget friendly air fryer then check out my blog post on The Best Air Fryers Under $100.

I have also become a huge fan of using Air Fryer Liners. They cover the bottom of the air fryer basket and food is placed directly onto them. When the food cooks it catches the grease and makes clean up a breeze. If you are looking for more ideas check out my blog post on Air Fryer Accessories.

Air Fryer Liners come in two forms

  1. Disposable Air Fryer Liners made from parchment paper.
  2. Silicone Air Fryer Liners that are dishwasher safe and reusable.

Ingredients For Frozen Chicken Breast In Air Fryer

I love the flavor of chicken cooked over a fire or barbecue and this blend of spices give me that flavor without all of the effort. For the oil my go to will always be Avocado Oil when it comes to using an air fryer. Avocado oil is a light oil that has a very mild flavor, it also has a high smoke point which makes it perfect for using in the air fryer.

  • 2-3 Chicken Breasts
  • 3 Tablespoons Avocado Oil or your oil of choice
  • 2 teaspoons Paprika or Smoked Paprika depending on your preference. I prefer Smoked Paprika.
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Italian Seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Onion Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Black Pepper

Place your seasoned chicken breasts into the basket of the air fryer, making sure they don’t overlap each other.

I prefer to flip the chicken halfway through the cooking process to ensure even cooking and that the air is able to circulate evenly.

On the first leg of cooking I will cook the chicken for 10-15 minutes, depending on the thickness of the chicken breasts.

Flip over halfway through cooking time using tongs or spatula. Keeping in mind that the inside of the Air Fryer basket is hot to the touch.

Add more of the seasonings and return the chicken to the Air Fryer to cook a remainder of 10-15 minutes.

Check if it is cooked well by inserting a meat thermometer into the thickest part of the chicken breast; it should read at least 165°F.

Remove from Air Fryer and serve hot with sides such as Loaded Mashed Potatoes, Broccoli Rice Casserole, or Bacon Wrapped Asparagus.

Frequently Asked Questions

How Long Does It Take To Cook Chicken From Frozen?

Cooking chicken from frozen in an air fryer is a great way to enjoy crispy and delicious chicken without the long wait time of defrosting. However, it’s important to know how long it takes to cook chicken from frozen properly.

The cooking time for frozen chicken in an air fryer will depend on the size and thickness of the chicken pieces. As a general rule of thumb, you should cook your frozen chicken at 375°F for about 20-25 minutes.

It’s essential to use a meat thermometer to ensure that the internal temperature has reached 165°F before consuming. This ensures that the chicken is cooked all the way through and safe to eat.

If you’re cooking larger pieces of frozen chicken, such as whole breasts or thighs, it may take longer than 25 minutes for them to cook thoroughly. In this case, you can increase the cooking time by an additional 5-10 minutes until they reach their proper internal temperature.

It’s also important not to overcrowd your air fryer basket when cooking frozen chicken. Overcrowding can lead to unevenly cooked food or even undercooked food in some areas.

Does Cooking Chicken In The Air Fryer Dry It Out?

Air fryers have become increasingly popular in recent years as a healthier alternative to traditional deep-frying. They allow you to cook your favorite foods with little to no oil, resulting in crispy and delicious meals that are lower in fat. However, when it comes to cooking chicken in the air fryer, many people wonder if it will dry out the meat.

The answer is that it depends on how you cook it. If you overcook the chicken or don’t use enough seasoning, then yes, the chicken can come out dry. However, if you follow some simple tips and tricks, you can achieve perfectly cooked and juicy chicken every time.

Firstly, start by choosing bone-in chicken if that is an option. The bones help retain moisture during the cooking process and prevent them from drying out. If you are cooking chicken without the bone in make sure to season your chicken well before cooking with your favorite herbs and spices.

Secondly, preheat your air fryer for a few minutes before adding the chicken. This helps ensure that the heat is evenly distributed throughout the appliance which will lead to more consistent results.

Thirdly, avoid overcrowding your air fryer basket as this can cause uneven cooking and result in dry spots on some pieces of chicken while others remain undercooked.

Finally, monitor the temperature of your chicken using a meat thermometer to ensure that it reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C), which is considered safe for consumption.
