Ingredients Needed For Bacon Egg And Cheese Crescent Rolls

I am a huge fan of sandwiches with eggs. Throw some bacon and cheese into the mix and I am one happy person. I prefer a breakfast with high protein and the mixture of eggs, bacon, and cheese helps me to achieve that.

One of the highlights of this recipe is that you can include any cheese that you like. I prefer cheddar cheese with the flavor of the smokey bacon. However if your favorite cheese is pepper jack, mozzarella, or swiss cheese then feel free to use those instead.

How To Make This Crescent Roll Breakfast Recipe

When it comes to adding the butter to the pan I am very generous because I find that it adds to the flavor. Whisking the eggs together prior to adding them to the pam helps to create a more uniform egg in the pan.

I will pour the whole mixture into a buttered skillet and let one side cook completely prior to flipping it and cooking the other side. I like to use a wide spatula to flip the egg to help keep it together and keep it from falling apart during the process.

When the egg mixture is cooked I removed it from the skillet and place it onto a cutting board. I will use a Pizza Cutter to cut the eggs into 8 even pieces. This helps to make this breakfast idea quick and easy to throw together when I am short on time.

I like there to be an even balance of cheese, bacon, and egg in my crescent rolls. But if you prefer more of one ingredient than the other then feel free to add extra eggs or bacon. Because lets face it bacon makes everything better.

Cutting Eggs with Pizza Cutter

Place 4 strips of bacon into the skillet and cook them completely. Keep in mind that once they are added to the crescent rolls they will be cooked again in the oven. Remove the bacon and cut it in two pieces. I like to use a Pizza Cutter to cut the bacon in half.

I will then take the slices of cheese and use a Pizza Cutter to cut each piece into 4 even pieces.

Assembling the Bacon Egg and Cheese Crescent Rolls

After all ingredients are cut up I will unroll the Crescent Rolls and start layering the ingredients within the crescent roll. This is the point where you can add extra ingredients and be creative with different types of cheese.

I like to start with the cheese. My preference is always sharp cheddar cheese but feel free to substitute with whatever cheese you prefer. I like to lay the ingredients starting on the long edge of the crescent roll.

Next I place a piece of the egg that was sliced with the pizza cutter. My preference is to create a balance of flavor so I only add one slice of the egg. However if you want to up the protein adding another slice of the egg will do that.

After that I add half a piece of the cooked bacon. Again I add only one half of the bacon but if you feel like adding more then go for it.

Lastly I add another 1/4 slice of cheese. I find that having the cheese on the bottom and top really helps to hold the crescent roll together.

After the layers are complete I will roll them into a croissant shape. It is expected that part of the filling will be spilling out of the sides. This will just allow all of that cheese to melt and get nice and crispy.

Once all of the rolls are completed I place them onto a cookie sheet sprayed with a cooking spray such as Pam.

Baking These Breakfast Crescent Rolls

After the wrapped Crescent Rolls are all placed onto the cooking sheet place it into an oven preheated to 375 Degrees F. Cooking time will take between 11-14 minutes depending on your oven.

Because I like a nice crispy and flakey exterior to the crescent roll I tend to cook by sight. I will remove the bacon egg and cheese crescent rolls when they look golden brown and the cheese has completely melted.

Lastly I always make a garlic butter sauce that I brush over the crescent rolls when they come out of the oven. Although I think this adds the final piece that makes this recipe the best breakfast rolls I have ever had you can omit it if you want. But I recommend at least giving it a try.

I like to brush the garlic butter onto the crescent rolls while they are still warm. And I recommend being generous, because it just adds to the flavor.

Tips and Tricks

Try a different type of cheese if Cheddar Cheese is not your thing. This is a delicious recipe with Colby Jack Cheese or Pepper Jack Cheese.

If you love sausage or would like to try it in exchange for the bacon it would be a delicious substitute. Ham lunch meat is also a great substitute for bacon and rolls up really well.

If you would like to elevate this to another level mix some dry ranch dressing mix into cream cheese. This extra bit of flavor is a great boost to this recipe. Just spread it onto the crescent rolls prior to adding the other ingredients.

One of my favorite things to do to bring some extra flavor is to add butter. I will take some butter and melt it in the microwave. I will add a small amount of garlic powder to the butter. Then I will brush it over the tops of the Bacon Egg and Cheese Crescent Rolls. It is best to do this when they are fresh from the oven.
